About Tibetan Script
The Tibetan script was developed in the 7th century by Thonmi Sambhota, a minister of the Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo. Based on Indian Brahmi scripts, it has been used for over 1,300 years to write the Tibetan language and preserve vast treasures of Buddhist literature, philosophy, and science. This tutoring system is named in honor of its creator.
